About the Artist, About the Art.

I started pottery six years ago and never looked back. What began as a creative outlet quickly became something much bigger — a way of life that’s reshaped how I move through the world. I taught pottery for a few years, and eventually opened a studio in Grand Rapids to give others access to the same kind of transformation it gave me.

Upstream Creations is rooted in the belief that if you want a full, honest life — one where you get to hold on to your passion— you have to swim against the current. Upstream is where freedom lives. Where your income and your craft can actually align. Where your work still feels like you.

Pottery, for me, is constant exploration — an unfolding dialogue between shape, feeling, and form. The work is never static. Each piece leads to the next, each shape opens a new question. I follow a thread that lets me live in the unknown. I’m not after mastery — I’m after discovery, again and again.

I’m not a production potter chasing volume. I’m not trying to make the same shape over and over just to scale it. My process is slow, curious, and centered in play. I value the relationship — between me and the clay, between hand and wheel, between process and product. When that connection is real, the piece reflects it.
